Seven new members have been appointed to the Joint Commission's board of commissioners for 2012, according to a
news release from the Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based accreditation organization.
In addition, the board's three field representatives for behavioral health, long-term care and home care will now have full voting rights. “Previously, the field representatives voted on board committees, but not at the full board,” the Joint Commission said in the release.
Michael Hogan, commissioner of New York State's Office of Mental Health, and Connie March, president and CEO of Mokena, Ill.-based Provena Life Connections, currently serve as the board's representatives for behavioral health and long-term care. New board member Joan Doyle, executive director of Penn Home Care and Hospice Services, Philadelphia, will represent the home care field. All three will now have full voting rights, according to the release.
Also joining the board are: John Babiarz, president and chief operating officer of Aramark Healthcare, a public member on the board; Dr. L.D. Britt, appointed by the American College of Surgeons; Dr. Albert Osbahr III and Dr. Stephen Permut, both appointed by the American Medical Association; Dr. David Pryor, appointed by the American Hospital Association; and David Henry Perrott, D.D.S., appointed by the American Dental Association.
Dr. Isabel Hoverman was reappointed chair of the board of commissioners for 2012, and Gerald Shea, vice-chair, was also reappointed, the Joint Commission said.
