Sherry Perkins, the chief nursing officer and senior vice president of patient-care services at Anne Arundel Medical Center, has been promoted to COO at the Annapolis, Md.-based facility.
Perkins, 51, started at Anne Arundel Medical Center in 2006 after spending 15 years at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. Hired as chief nursing officer, she was promoted to senior vice president of patient services four years later. In her new role, Perkins—who will remain CNO—will continue to oversee nursing, clinical and support services and quality programs, and will also oversee the human resources and information systems departments. She succeeds Victoria Bayless, who became CEO at Anne Arundel Medical Center in July 2011.
Perkins is the president-elect of the Maryland Organization of Nurse Executives and serves on the Maryland Hospital Association Council on Clinical Quality.
