Howard, 47, last served as regional president and system vice president of SSM Health Care of Oklahoma. He's spent 17 years with 13-hospital SSM, which has its main offices in St. Louis. He replaces
Jim Sanger who retired in December. Howard also is a regional president and system vice president for SSM Health Care.
“Chris's talents will serve SSM Health Care-St. Louis well in the coming years,” said SSM Health Care President and CEO Bill Thompson in a news release. “He is committed to exceptional patient care, and his ability to forge creative relationships with physicians is exactly the kind of leadership that will benefit patients.”
Howard will oversee an integrated healthcare network of seven hospitals, 2,500 staff doctors and more than 11,200 employees.
