Regarding MGMA wants contingency plan on 5010:

The reason people aren't ready is because they assumed CMS would offer extensions.

Everyone in the industry has worked hard to meet the deadline and now we're left in limbo wondering what each payer is doing. It was easier when everyone was working toward the same goal. A deadline is a deadline. I know personally it shouldn't take two full years of development to be able to send/receive 5010. All the groundwork is built in 4010; it's just a matter of updating existing code to handle the changes for 5010.
