Regarding "AMA opposes ICD-10": As my grandmother would have said, this is "a day late and a dollar short." The time to oppose ICD-10 is long past.
I agree the timing is unfortunate, but when would be better? Probably never. Keep in mind we've all known about ICD-10 implementation for a long time.
The "unnamed" 2008 study does not ring true, unless the office has an outdated computer system. In that case, it would need to be replaced for 5010 conversion, anyway. Let's not blame ICD-10 implementation when the real problem may be failure to install current technology.
Will ICD-10 implementation be a demanding project? Of course. But can it be pulled off with adequate planning and education? Absolutely!
