Provena Health, Mokena, Ill., and Resurrection Health Care of Chicago closed on their merger today.

The new entity lacks a name. A media release refers only to a “new healthcare organization.” While without a name, the merger creates the largest Catholic healthcare group in Illinois, combining Provena's six hospitals and 1,361 beds and Resurrection's eight hospitals and 2,220 beds. Financial details weren't disclosed.

Sandra Bruce, Resurrection’s president and CEO, will serve as the merged organization’s CEO and chairwoman. She appeared in a YouTube video posted by the new group, joined with other staff members who celebrated the unnamed group’s creation by repeatedly saying, “Happy birthday, new ministry!”
