The Institute of Medicine has targeted Oct. 7 as the release date of its recommendations to HHS regarding the agency's pending rule on the health reform law's essential benefits provision.
Christine Stencel, media relations officer at the IOM, said on Friday that IOM is responsible for recommending criteria and methods to help guide HHS as the agency determines the specific elements of the rule.
Expected by year's end, the essential benefits rule will highlight what health plans should include to participate in state health insurance exchanges.
