As the story began, “Some hospitals are finding that they don't have to change the way they operate to accommodate a newly installed, commercial computerized medical information system—they can make it fit their routines.” The story also noted that “staff and personnel are now able to perform their tasks faster and with fewer errors … because of the instant transmission of information and the elimination of messy handwriting and paper order slips.”
