Carter named chief administrative officer at Swedish Medical Center facility

Mike Carter has been named chief administrative officer at Swedish Medical Center's First Hill campus in Seattle, effective in June.

Carter, 58, fills a role previously held by Cal Knight, who left Swedish as chief operating officer in April to become president and CEO of John Muir Health in Walnut Creek, Calif.

Since 2006, Carter has been lead administrator of Swedish/Edmonds, formerly Stevens Hospital in Edmonds, Wash. Stevens Hospital became part of not-for-profit Swedish in September 2010. Carter was previously CEO of Anaheim Memorial Medical Center in Anaheim, Calif.

David Jaffe, 62, will fill in as chief administrator of Swedish/Edmonds on an interim basis for six months, according to a news release. Jaffe retired as CEO of Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in 2007. Jaffe has been working for Swedish on contract since 2010.
