HIMSS, founded 50 years ago, is a not-for-profit with a focus on improving the quality, cost-effectiveness, and access to and safety of healthcare through the use of information technology and management software. Among its members are more than 30,000 individuals, as well as hundreds of corporate members and not-for-profit organizations. It is the leading authority on the implementation and use of health IT and, therefore, plays a vital role in the implementation of healthcare reform, including information on how to meet and implement meaningful use and certification criteria.
