The not-for-profit Chicago-based Certification Commission for Health Information Techology will begin taking vendor applications today for testing electronic health-record systems against federal standards for "meaningful use" under the federal EHR subsidy program of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, a CCHIT spokeswoman said.
"We will be opening applications today," CCHIT Communications Director C. Sue Reber said. "We'll be testing immediately. I would think relatively soon, in a couple of weeks, we'll be announcing our first certifications."
CCHIT will host a town-call webcast today at 1 p.m. Eastern describing its application and testing process. CCHIT will take new health IT developer applications immediately afterward.
