An objection to President Barack Obama's health care overhaul will be put in Louisiana law.
With a 68-18 vote Sunday, the House gave final passage to the bill by Republican Rep. Kirk Talbot. It heads to GOP Gov. Bobby Jindal, who supports the proposal.
The measure is largely symbolic. Language added by the Senate explains that nothing in the bill should be construed to supersede federal law.
The proposal declares that no one in the state can be required to have health insurance or be required to pay a penalty if they refuse to carry insurance.
The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to decide whether the insurance mandate can be enforced in states.
