Karen Timmons has announced she will leave the Joint Commission International and the Joint Commission Resources, where she has served as president and CEO since 1999, effective July 1. A Joint Commission spokeswoman confirmed Timmons' departure, but gave no further details about the reasons for her resignation or her future plans.
According to a statement from the Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based not-for-profit organization, Mark Chassin, the Joint Commission's president, plans to work with board members to find an interim president and CEO to oversee JCR and JCI until a permanent replacement is identified.
“No timeframe for the appointment of a successor to Timmons has been determined, and JCR and JCI will continue normal operations during the search and transition process,” the organization said in the statement.
Prior to her current role, Timmons served as the executive vice president for support operations at the Joint Commission.
Timmons' total compensation for 2008 was $1,005,547, according to the Joint Commission Resources' Internal Revenue Service Form 990.
