The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center named Bruce Meyer to succeed John McConnell as executive vice president of health system affairs, effective immediately. McConnell, 56, stepped down in October 2008 to become CEO of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Meyer, 52, joined the 429-bed hospital in 2007 from UMass Memorial Medical Group, Worcester, Mass., where he was president, and UMass Memorial Health Center, where he was chairman of the obstetrics and gynecology department.
Meyer, a physician, was previously the Southwestern Medical Center's vice president for medical affairs. He also has an MBA from the University of Tennessee. What do you think?
