Kirk Ogrosky, who until recently was deputy chief for healthcare fraud in the criminal division of the U.S. Justice Department, has joined the law firm Arnold & Porter as a partner in its white-collar criminal defense and healthcare practices.
Ogrosky, 39, has been closely involved with the Justice Department’s deployment of multi-agency “strike forces” to detect and prosecute people who bill Medicare for unnecessary or nonexistent services and durable medical equipment in Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami and other cities deemed hotspots for healthcare fraud.
He had been an assistant U.S. attorney in Miami from 1998 to 2004 and then returned to the Justice Department in 2006 after a stint with the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. Harold “Hank” Walther is acting deputy chief over criminal healthcare fraud while the government conducts a search for Ogrosky’s successor.
