About the Project:
Expansion and renovation of Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center improved patient outcomes, satisfaction, and safety. Many factors made this RTKL-designed new Patient Care Tower a success—including the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Today's healthcare providers are rightly looking to AEC consultants to improve their facilities through BIM. An early adopter of BIM, RTKL has been advancing BIM practices including multi-disciplinary integration, as officially recognized by Autodesk RevitŪ. This 3D/database software platform, preferred by the A/E community, also is used by leading construction firms to increase client value.
One such firm, DPR Construction, Inc., used Revit on the Banner Medical Center expansion. Having more precise information, off-site fabrication was increased. This not only reduced construction costs, it improved jobsite safety and facilitated the schedule. As well, “virtual mock-ups” where generated of critical spaces for which full-scale, constructed mock-ups were not financially feasible.
As AEC consultants employ BIM to create 3D walk-throughs, better analyze alternatives, and more accurately predict costs, BIM's return on investment continues to grow. Per Autodesk, projects using Revit reduced RFIs by 74%, construction clashes by 37%, and change orders by 31%. To improve the quality of your next project, consult RTKL—your healthcare design and technologies expert making facilities “better by design.”
