In an exclusive Feb. 24 interview with Modern Healthcare Editor David Burda, Marie Sinioris, president and chief executive officer of the National Center for Healthcare Leadership, discusses the findings of a new American Hospital Association report on healthcare governance. Sinioris is a member of the Blue Ribbon Panel on Trustee Core Competencies, which produced the report, “Competency-Based Governance: A Foundation for Board and Organizational Effectiveness.” In the interview, Sinioris predicts that an increasing number of states will require healthcare governing board members to undergo training and education to acquire a specific set of skills designed to make them effective directors and trustees.
