Mark Neaman, president and chief executive officer of NorthShore University HealthSystem, Evanston, Ill., is the recipient of the 2009 Gold Medal Award from the American College of Healthcare Executives.
The Gold Medal Award, which is the ACHE’s highest honor, went to Neaman for his work in building one of the nation’s first systemwide electronic health-record systems that demonstrably improved quality, safety and efficiency, at the system that was formerly known as Evanston Northwestern Healthcare. The health system, which became NorthShore in September 2008, also launched one of the nation’s first universal methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus surveillance programs under Neaman.
ACHE awards will be presented March 23 and 24 during ACHE’s 52nd Congress on Healthcare Leadership in Chicago.
