Please welcome reporter Rebecca Vesely to our editorial staff. Vesely, 36, covers healthcare payers and purchasers out of our San Francisco office. She also covers regional healthcare business news in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington.
Vesely replaces Laura B. Benko, who left in April after eight years with
Modern Healthcare. Benko, who recently earned a graduate degree in clinical psychology, accepted the position of clinical coordinator for Los Angeles County, where she now works with troubled youths in that school system.
Most recently Vesely was the regional healthcare reporter for the
Oakland Tribune/Bay Area Newspaper Group, where she covered state and federal health policy, medical advances and health insurers and purchasers. She previously was sections editor/founding editor of
Business 2.0 magazine and Washington bureau chief for
Wired News.
Vesely has a Master of Science degree in journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations and French studies from Mills College in Oakland, Calif.
