Construction & Design Survey

This survey provides important information on construction and design firms that do business within the healthcare industry. Companies that participate are required to be based in the U.S. and have 100,000 square feet or more of healthcare projects in at least one phase of construction-completed, broke ground/in progress or designed. Companies include projects where they are the architect, construction manager, general contractor, design/build firm or developer of record. This survey was first published in 1980.

Master's Programs in Health Administration Survey

This survey is a collection of data from educational institutions on their Master's programs pertaining to health administration studies. Institutions that participate are required to be based in the U.S. and have a graduate program in health administration or similar healthcare-focused tracks. This survey was first published in 2012.

Business Graduate Schools for Physician Executives Survey

Also known as the MBA survey, this creates our annual Top business graduate schools for physician-executives Rankings are based on a list of programs awarding MBAs or similar degrees in courses that focus on physicians. All institutions participating must offer long-distance learning programs and be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education. This survey was first published in 2002.

Hospital Systems Survey

This survey provides essential information on hospitals systems. The survey is intended for organizations that own, lease or sponsor two or more acute-care or psychiatric hospitals. Participating companies provide total hospital counts as well as net patient revenue, total net revenue, net operating income, net income and total asset figures within their fiscal years. This survey was first published in 1976.

Physician Compensation Survey

Referenced as our GPO Survey, this survey is intended for purchasing organizations-defined as an organization offering a portfolio of goods and services for purchase to its member and their affiliates-that work within the healthcare industry. Companies who participate provide information about their membership, purchasing volume, value, business practices and more. This survey was first published in 2003.

Healthcare Management Consultant Survey

This survey is intended for U.S. management consulting firms that consult in various sectors of the healthcare industry. Participating companies report a breakdown of contracts and consultants both between providers as well as the industry as a whole. Accountable Care Organizations Survey

With the release of the much-anticipated federal regulations on accountable care organizations in 2011, Modern Healthcare took the opportunity to hear directly from ACOs themselves. The survey is intended for U.S. organizations of healthcare providers that agree to be accountable for the quality, cost and overall care of a select group of patients, enrollees, employees or population. Organizations report figures such as the total number of physician participants and number of covered lives the ACO serves. This survey was first published in 2011.

Post-Acute-Care Survey

Outsourcing Survey

This survey is an important source of information on companies who outsource within the healthcare industry. Companies that participate are considered eligible as an outsourcing firm if they have the following: A contract to manage a department (such as food service, housekeeping, data processing, etc.) of a hospital, long-term-care facility or other healthcare client. This questionnaire is not meant for firms managing entire facilities. Also a resident or off-site manager or management firm working full- or part-time with the client hospital, long-term-care facility or other healthcare client. Clients that share employees with other client facilities are considered consulting clients, not contract management, and should not be counted in this survey. This survey was first published in 1978.

Healthcare Purchasing Power Survey

This survey examines how much major employers spend on providing healthcare benefits and services to their employees; essentially, who pays for healthcare and how much it costs. Co-sponsored by the National Business Coalition on Health and the Leapfrog Group, this survey recognizes the growing power employers have to dictate how healthcare services are delivered. All companies participating must have a minimum of $1 billion in U.S. annual revenue. Participating companies are ranked by their healthcare purchasing power — an employer’s total annual expenditures to provide healthcare benefits to the employer’s covered lives. This survey was first published in 2008.

Patient Satisfaction Firms Survey

This survey is intended for U.S. patient-satisfaction measurement firms that analyze various sectors of the healthcare industry. Results of this survey create our annual Largest patient satisfaction firms list. This survey was first published in 2006.

Modern Healthcare/Modern Physician Survey of Executive Opinions on Key IT Issues
 

This annual information technology survey is invitation-only and made available to senior healthcare executives to analyze their opinion on the information systems function, and to understand the benefits organizations gain from implementing new IT systems and sharing data. Submissions are kept confidential and analyzed only in the aggregate, so there are no respondent lists available. This survey was first published in 1990.

Modern Healthcare/Press Ganey Hospital-Physician Relations Survey
 

This survey examines the state of relations between hospitals and their employed physicians and how those relations may change in the future. Submissions are kept confidential and analyzed only in the aggregate, so there are no respondent lists available. This survey was first published in 2010.
