Corporate Compliance Officer - Palm Beach Gardens ,FL
Responsible for establishing, implementing and maintaining an effective compliance program, including ensuring company compliance with the health care and privacy laws, drafting and review of legal documents and handling day-to-day compliance questions. Also responsible for working with outside counsel when necessary.

Education and Experience:
Completion of program at an ABA-accredited law school with an LLB degree or JD degree, current membership in the Bar of the State of Florida or another U.S. State.

Essential Key Responsibilities:

  • Stays current with relevant statutes, court decisions, relevant agency actions and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies.
  • Gathers evidence and information for management and Board decision making.
  • Prepares and reviews various legal instruments and documents, such as contracts, leases, licenses, purchases, sales, real estate, etc.
  • Examines material, such as advertisements, publications, etc., for legal implications,.
  • When requested by management, prepares position papers on proposed legislation that might affect the organization.
  • Applies for, or supervises the application for, copyrights or registration of the organization's products, processes, devices, and trademarks, advising whether to initiate or defend law suits.
  • Advises concerning transactions of business involving internal affairs, stockholders, directors, officers, and corporate relations with general public.
  • Oversees the development, revision, and compliance of the organization's policies and procedures with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provides management with advice and counsel concerning laws impacting the organization's functional areas.
  • Writes/reviews contracts, files for patents and copyrights, files and responds to lawsuits, and recommends outside counsel when necessary.
  • Develops budget recommendations to support systematically planned programs of legal actions or defenses, and establishes controls to assure optimum deployment of resources within approved budgets.
  • Keeps fully informed of all new developments in corporate legal matters and keeps all levels of management informed of applicable new laws and of the progress and results of court cases.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of various compliance rules and regulations in the coding, billing and reimbursement areas.
  • Knowledge of government requirements for health care compliance programs.
  • Knowledge of Medicare and insurance laws.
  • Knowledge of operational, financial, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Knowledge of labor law laws concerning health and safety.
  • Knowledge of corporate law.
  • Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision making.
  • Skill in analyzing situations accurately and taking effective action.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, management and the public.
  • Skill in exercising judgment and discretion in developing, applying, interpreting and coordinating policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to partner effectively with others in handling complex issues.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and exercise authority.
  • Ability to establish and maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to organize and integrate organization priorities and deadlines.


Requirements:

  • Demonstrated leadership ability and ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with healthcare laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Understanding of coding and reimbursement systems, risk management, and performance improvement.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a health care organization with specific ethics/compliance program and legal/regulatory experience
