The National Lieutenant Governors Association adopted a resolution supporting health information technology during its annual meeting.
Dubbed “
Ensuring the Adoption of Health Information Technology Systems,” the resolution calls on the association to support state efforts to advance interoperable health IT and its adoption among providers. The resolution, developed by Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo from Kentucky, also calls on states to adopt systems certified by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology and ensure that electronic health records and electronic-prescribing systems maintain security and privacy standards.
The lieutenant governors follow
efforts by states to boost health IT levels among providers.
